Lots of sci-fi is kind of heavy handed, but Blade Runner has a little more nuance and ambiguity. There are things left unstated but implied, and the films don't give you all the answers. There's symbolism that's the viewer can interpret however they wish. They're films that I recommend watching once, then reading a bit about them, then watching them again - they do grow on you.
