I really liked Blade Runner 2049, but I love Blade Runner. I can always watch that movie, and have watched it all my life. While Blade Runner 2049 is an excellent movie and has Ridley Scott's endorsement, I cannot bring myself to see it as canon. Its bleak and profoundly hopeless view was not foreshadowed in the original, which had a sense of humor and awe that was stripped from 2049.
