The difference is that you mix your code and package management. I'm not sure why the code would need to know where you obtained the dependency. This is package manager business. Whether you get the dependency from your git repo, from a centralized package repository or from a random url had nothing to do in the code.

  I think this is a nit - most modern compiled languages do this but at the compiler level.
