My point is that we do need to acknowledge that some people can’t live independently and also don’t have a support system, and a humane approach will need to help them too. Currently, if someone can’t live independently, their family gets them into a nursing home or hires a caretaker. If you don’t have that support system, our society won’t help you at all.
