Elon Musk’s Neuralink allegedly subjected monkeys to ‘extreme suffering’
- ameminator 5y agoOn one hand, I understand that new and novel biotechnology will require animal testing, and, by extension, animal suffering. On the other hand, this account does sound horrifying for the monkeys. If it's possible to have the research without this suffering, we should aim for that. If you're experiments brings the Silver Spring Monkey case [0] to mind, then maybe we need to rethink some things. 0 - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Spring_monkeys https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Spring_monkeys

Real shame if the allegations are true, but at least very useful findings and treatment came out of it. b) from the NYPost: “Many, if not all, of the monkeys experienced extreme suffering as a result of inadequate animal care and the highly invasive experimental head implants during the experiments, which were performed in pursuit of developing what Neuralink and Elon Musk have publicly described as a ‘brain-machine interface,’” Let's say the inadequate animal care is true, and it gets fixed as it should, I don't know what can be done about the invasive experimental head implants. That's the whole purpose of the research.
