One of the really interesting things about C# is the breadth of the language, it handles close to if not every possible kind of program that can be written, and that's by design. In other words it's a fully capable systems level language as well as an application language. There are a number of design choices that people use to writing high level applications think are funny but when you reflect on them they are there to allow low level control for systems level or high performance programming. I used to be baffled by some of the designs until I realised that it's a language for everyone/every system, not just for what I personally am doing right now.
