Somebody's got to do the work. Most corporate development groups I've seen adhere to the "Innovation Happens Elsewhere" philosophy. You're judged by how well you can copy and paste off of Stack Exchange, not how well you can evaluate customer requirements, design a solution and then implement it (or lead a small team to implement it.) So... if people stop working on FOSS, we won't get any new web applications.
