Disclaimer: I work in adtech.
- WalterBright 5y agoI've bought things I didn't know existed because of push advertising. For example, ads for upcoming movies I didn't know would interest me. Songs I hear on the radio I never heard before and like and want to buy. Tools that make my life easier working on my car that I didn't know existed.
- yifanl 5y agoSure, but the demand for these things didn't exist _until_ you saw the ad, and the value add becomes that much more abstract: i.e. what if there's a movie you would've liked more instead?
- WalterBright 5y agoUm, a product that saves me time and money doesn't help me if I don't know about it. > what if there's a movie you would've liked more instead? Since they didn't advertise it, I lose, and the movie company lost.
