Will Kubernetes v1.22 Break My Application?
- mindcrime 5y agoChances are the answer is "yes". Not a knock on K8S necessarily, but version upgrades can be fairly impactful. We're just now dealing with a recent K8S version change on Azure AKS and it totally broke the version of Istio we were on. And pulling in the new version of Istio meant bringing along new versions of some of the "stuff" that we use that's bundled with Istio - Grafana, Prometheus, Jaeger, Kiali, etc. All in all, getting everything cleaned up and working with the new version has been a non-trivial exercise. That said, that's all infrastructure stuff. I haven't heard any reports yet from any of the Application Development teams that their actual code broke as a result of this. But not all clusters have been upgraded to the new version, so time will tell.
