I currently rent in a building from a big Private Equity/rental corporation (Equity Residential). Everything is purposefully low quality, common areas are terribly maintained (except for the areas they take prospect residents for a tour around), and it's clearly organized to squeeze every penny and force people out on regular schedules. It's depressing.
