"That unpredictability makes it stressful to drive because being ready to take over instantly means trying to predict what it will do." I feel this. I rarely if ever use autopilot because I find the cognitive load and stress of monitoring it to be higher than just driving the car myself. The exception to this is when the road is absolutely empty.
