Not really. We will take away drivers licenses for driving under the influence or extreme speeding, but a lot of accidents are due to long tail bad drivers (elderly people who just don’t have good reactions, careless people, people who just haven’t learnt to drive well, cell phone users, etc.) who rarely have their licenses taken away.
Of course, I think the solution to this is improving public transport and more aggressively taking away people’s driving licenses, rather than giving autopilot a pass.

The reason DUI etc. receives such harsh penalties is because the number of accidents DUI has caused makes it obvious that drinking is a factor. It should be the same with "autopilot".
- moralestapia 5y agoI agree with what you say and just want to add that the benchmark for FSD shouldn't be the bad drivers, it should be the best ones.
