I believe the quality and design of software has an influence on people's level of productivity and experience at their job. If I had a preponderance of evidence that this is false, I would conclude that UX design and much of software engineering was pointless. I would then change careers. Assuming you agree with my belief, I suggest you ask yourself which experience would you rather choose: A. For 2-3 years, you regularly spend 40+ hours a week feeling bitter and angry about the tools you use and the resulting social environment you are immersed in. B. For 2-3 weeks you spend 5-15 minutes a week embarrassed because a few strangers think you are petty.
