- ratsmack 5y agoI think the media portraying the BLM riots as mostly peaceful tells you the intense fear many journalists have, because of the possibility they would be labeled a racist.
- MomoXenosaga 5y agoBLM not being peaceful would be a good thing. I'm reminded of Lincoln who was determined to burn America down to the ground to end slavery (and he did it literally in Georgia). If you want radical change you need radical action.
- lazyeye 5y agoI'm sure the people from Jan 6th would be in complete agreement with you. Not so much the people that lost loved ones or had their businesses/livelihoods destroyed due to the BLM riots.
- ashwagary 5y agoJan 6 was a group fighting for temporary political power, meanwhile BLM/black people are still fighting for equal rights after 400 years of unimpeded criminality from the dominant society. These two things are nowhere close to being equal.
- lazyeye 5y agoWell that is simplistic hyperbole to say the least. And it really doesnt matter how you perceive things. People wanting radical change are going to act radically right?
- ashwagary 5y agoYou are right, some people think black liberation should be peaceful, comfortable, and not interrupt their daily lives in the slightest... Both MLK and Malcolm X told us most of what we need to know about the white liberal when it comes to matters of anti-black racism.
- slowhand09 5y agoCo-worker was fired last week for criticizing BLM. Another co-worker overheard, reported up the chain that "he didn't feel safe". Now everybody nearby limits conversation to "Hows the weather".
- hw-guy 5y agoAnd I'm sure the management will keep yammering on about the "difficult conversations we need to be having."
