This isn't a television, it's a product similar to Google's Nest Hub; i.e. your standard "smart speaker" plus a display. Don't disagree with your outrage at all. I wouldn't buy a more critical appliance administered by Google. But I do have a Nest Hub in my kitchen, and I like it for what it is -- an entirely unnecessary, cheap gizmo that nevertheless has a couple useful functions.
