      If membership is necessary for you or your family to get ahead, for your kids to get a good education, etc., it might not signal support of the CCP.

      If I'm expressing some disagreement about policy and the Chinese government I'm probably not counting who is or isn't a party member. And at least generally just being a party member of a party anywhere doesn't mean any individual always agrees with every policy, and I certainly don't assume they get to make policy.
