Oof. What does "meaning it" have to do with an apology being warranted? If I feel bad enough about calling someone a moron within earshot that I feel like an asshole, I'm going to apologize. This only wouldn't apply if I felt such animosity that I wanted them to feel bad. I can't imagine not apologizing in the situation you described.
- tombert 5y agoI was a cranky little asshole when I was 21 who thought being a douchebag was just "edgy" and if people didn't get it then that's on them. Looking back, I cringe every time I think about, because that just is shorthand for saying "I was that toxic worker no one liked". I absolutely did mean it, I still think she was a moron who didn't understand anything about computers, but you're right, an apology for the verbiage would probably be in order. I've thought about finding her on LinkedIn and apologizing, but almost a decade has passed since then, and I don't really think she wants to talk to me anyway. Somehow I think she's probably over it by now. What's life without a few regrets eating away at you?
- mrtranscendence 5y agoTrue enough. I've got plenty of regrets of my own, no argument there.
