This may have felt very uncommon to the author, but most of the things I read seems absolutely normal. Title inflation is real at smaller companies. You maybe a “executive staff engineering fellow” at a smaller shop but at the larger companies that’s equivalent to a mid level dev. I’d be curious to hear what the manager and team members thought of this move. Overall, the writing strikes me as someone who may have put the cart before the horse. I hope it works out for the author
