The reasoning for this wasn't my performance in the technical interviews, it wasn't based on my answers to soft questions, and it wasn't that I had a bunch of non-CS experience, it was because I didn't have enough years of experience in tech-specific jobs. Looking at the Shopify Jobs page[0], I see they pretty much only list openings for Senior level positions. I think people are missing the tactic here (which a lot of companies seem to do) of only listing experienced positions to keep people with no experience from applying, but not necessarily only hiring for Senior positions.
