Becuase if I wasnt informed, and they took a subscription that I was then unable to cancel in 1 click from my iCloud subscription settings, I would be very annoyed. Shady.

- lozenge 5y agoThey could add an API where the app registers a subscription (or link) into the iCloud subscription settings page, they just don't want to.
- breakfastduck 5y agoI mean the developers are clearly trying to avoid this (among other things) so I can't imagine there's much point.
- lozenge 5y agoWhat do you mean? Many apps are happy to provide one click cancellation, they just don't want to pay 30% of their revenue to Apple.
- breakfastduck 5y agoOk, I'll pass then. Good job I was informed via this modal :)
- Grustaf 5y agoWhat does that mean? That apps using third party payment providers should still show up as app store subscriptions? That would make it even less clear that it's third party, that's exactly the opposite of what apple wants.
- coder543 5y agoAt the point where you start typing in your payment information from scratch, you should have a pretty good idea that you're not in kansas anymore. Apple IAPs don't require you to enter your payment information again and again. So, you are definitely informed one way or another, but requiring the developer to be more explicit about that would probably be good, but achieving that benefit doesn't require Apple to do... whatever this is that they're trying to force developers to do. It's a farcically extreme version of what could otherwise be interpreted to be a consumer friendly requirement.
