Allowing myself a slightly off-topic question: For the people having old Thinkpads (X220 for example), where do you buy replacement batteries?
Are you buying many from different providers hoping to land one good in the pack? How can you have a kind of minimal confidence that it will not be a security hazard?
- MisterSandman 5y agoI wonder the same thing, with the added asterisk of "...in Canada?" I think the answer is that many don't, including me. I don't really need to use my laptop on the go as much, so I just carry around that giant ass power brick.
- spaniard89277 5y agoGreenCell and Luxnote, but I'm in the EU.
- amiga-workbench 5y agoI can absolutely vouch for GreenCell, they've kept my X201's going for years, and they're not naff reconditioned cells inside.
- Loic 5y agoThanks a lot both of you for recommending GreenCell. I just ordered a new battery for my X220 :-)
- paulmd 5y agoLenovo is quite good at supporting their products, as manufacturers go, so you might still be able to find an OEM pack that is not too stale. Past that, I think the next best answer is you crack open the pack and you replace the cells yourself. The aftermarket packs are total garbage.
- NGRhodes 5y agoI've had good luck with cheap generics (varying brand names, originating from China) from Amazon, now on my 5th battery with no issue.
