Why is it considered acceptable behavior for journalists to dox and publicise the personal information of persons wishing to remain anonymous? It seems clear that this information being public puts these founders are risk of physical harm but there is somehow no question of ethics?
- SideburnsOfDoom 5y ago"persons wishing to remain anonymous" is disingenuous. Is it lawful to run a multi-million-dollar enterprise, anonymously? Is it acceptable ?
- rosndo 5y agoIt’s lawful. Should it be acceptable? Yeah, I’ve had BigCos send PIs to my home to harass me because they didn’t like what my really quite small multi-million-dollar enterprise was doing.
- SideburnsOfDoom 5y agoHarassment sucks, whoever does it. But I find it hard to believe that anonymous multi-million-dollar enterprises would be a net positive to society.
- arrakis2021 5y agoThese are not “journalists” They’re about as close to journalists as COD players are Navy SEALs
- rosndo 5y agoThe logic here is the same as the logic behind UBO registries. The proponents of such argue that there is a significant benefit to the public from knowing who owns what.
