Web3 is ~sortof~ the hypothesized future state where apps/services can use decentralized methods of identity, authentication, and payment to interact with users. This would break the network- and mitm-effects that enable current web2 services to be so dominant. Over a long time perspective, this is probably inevitable. But what is the probability that current crypto currencies will play any part? Not high, I think.
