I agree with this, which is why I prefer lon/lat (x,y) but I think technically they aren't cartesian, which is why we have projections that project the spherica

I agree with this, which is why I prefer lon/lat (x,y) but I think technically they aren't cartesian, which is why we have projections that project the spherical planes on to X,Y coords data planes.
