A Renaissance Riddle: The Sola Busca Tarot Deck (1491)
- 8bitsrule 5y agoInteresting that the artwork (1491) was being created at about the same time as the (Latin) Nuremberg Chronicle. It included a lot of artwork, and many copies of NC were colorized at some point. Also in Nuremberg at the time of the NC was native-born Albrecht Dürer, who probably helped create it. He first spent a year in Venice in 1494. (Side note: Book-coloring was rare until recently. Dunno about EU but e.g. most US school textbooks I've seen had little or no color up until color TV came along.)
