OP(?) here, gunapologist99 makes a good point in that I painted with too broad a brush stroke. Most of the evangelicals I know are actually amazing people and are not like this at all. They are generous, kind, forgiving...but they are also humble and quiet and don't make a bunch of noise or stir up trouble. Unless you live with them, nobody really hears about this kind of Christian. Its just that there is a certain vein of folk that really focus on what everyone else should and should not be doing. Kenneth Copeland style. That's who I was referencing, but did a sloppy job of distinguishing them. Anyway.
