Taking cars out of some urban areas is such an upgrade. Once in a while I revisit a street in a city I didn't visit for long, where the road has been appropriated for pedestrians and sitting area. Just like that, the street transforms – from a passage through which to go – to become the go-to attraction.
- alamortsubite 5y agoWhen I tell people in my city they could instantly double their property values by greatly restricting car traffic and parking on their street, they look at me like I'm crazy.
- christophilus 5y agoMy little town did this, and it’s wonderful. Downtown is now constantly packed with people. All I can say is, I hope this is the beginning of a long term turn towards human-scale cities in the US.
