Who here is originally from the U.S. but migrated to another country since remote jobs became commonplace? I've got a great remote job for a U.S. company and about $60k available for a downpayment; I'd love to be able to buy a place abroad (and hopefully obtain residency/citizenship). Unfortunately, places like Italy or Spain seem to require foreign nationals to have much more initial cash and prevent mortgage loans for more than 50/60% of the purchase price. I can afford a decent mortgage, but I just don't have a lot of liquid cash at the moment. Has anyone here done anything like that?
