Long term, the aging population means that the US needs immigration to keep things going.
The politics are nuts, keeping people out who would do the jobs and not providing a path to citizenship. And they make it hard for people who come to study to stay.
The aging population is the same all over the world, and there will be competition for young, talented people. These policies will kill US competitiveness in the next 10-20 years.
