I was wondering if one could have simpler, more consider, and efficient code with a simple queue system and some Go or python code? Using a BPM system to process orders from a web site is like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
- chasd00 5y agoit's a balance. Sometimes you need a pickup truck other times you need an 18 wheeler. Sometimes, you even need container ship. People like to pick what they know so you end up with some strange setups out there.
- tremon 5y agoThat depends on whether your queue system and the rest of your data/processing system fully respects data ordering requirements. A webshop sales process is quite simple to order, but if you have multiple events driven by the same queue, you also need a way to synchronize the results of those processes with the main queue. So, as always, it depends.
- mfateev 5y agoLook at the temporal.io. It is essentially a BPM system that uses Go (as well as Java/PHP/Typescript) to specify business process. And a queue + DB is never simpler for such scenarios. Disclaimer: I'm one of the founders of the project.
