Ask HN: Product Innovation and Colors
I've read somewhere and I can't find the source anymore that, if a product starts selling in a variety of colors, instead of one (usually black) or two (black or white), it's innovation cycle is basically done. You can expect only incremental updates and very few innovative things.
Is it a thing? Are there any studies about this?
It makes sense to me, but I would like some sources.
- logicalmonster 5y agoThat makes a lot of sense if you wanted to generalize, but I'm sure there are numerous exceptions to that theory.
- marcos100 5y agoAgree. It's probably more of an indicator than a strict rule.
