There that should make things easier, but it's up to you, I kind oif think maybe this girl captured your eye and you might think that you should be the one to "Fix" the problem?
As far as this story goes I find the "Daughter" that lives with or "Off" her mom incredibly arrogant. Children often feel they are smarter than their parents and sometimes they are, but to actually speak to a media source and air the family's dirty laundry makes me wonder what the daughter's motives truly are.
I also have to question the ethics of a news outlet to allow such things to be reported about a person, even by their own daughter and not reach out for comment from them.
And the underlying negative tone regarding Evangelical Christians being weak minded and prone to conspiracy is not best journalism practice either.
- theGeatZhopa 5y agoOne should always think and take care of the ones around oneself. She is my friend and not someone who does not matter.. you can't meet up with her anymore without talking about the conspiracy the whole evening. Call it "captured one's eye".. I call that caretaking of my social circle. What would you do if someone suddenly think you're driven by the government and tries to "fix" you, when the thinking leading to that conclusion is clearly based on lies and impossibilities? And, yes. I'm completely with you. Not good journalism. But the thing with the weak minded ev. Christians - this is really like that. I've grown up in a evangelical christian family. Have been "forced" to go to church on Sundays until 18. We pray before every lunch. And engage in house circles and doin some other things. Ok.. my father is the smartest man I met in 41 years of my being. He studied engineering and being a freelancer/company owner for 40 years of doing programming in C, C++, Java, JS, bash on HP Unix and all the *x systems used by banks, car makers and and and, python and a few other languages. Working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the last 40 years.. I studied engineering, work with students and teach them what I know - Icm able assess what it means to be weak minded. The most (90 percent) of all the guys in the church are weak minded, as the ones who have a stronger mind (gained through education) tend to be atheists.. once I asked my dad having his brain, why he still believe in a higher being / god. The answer was "I don't know if there is a god. But if, then I'm better off than one who doesn't believe.. I lived my life without hate, always doing good things and giving love - my believe made me a better person. So, why the discussion?" .. yes. We often talk about manipulation of simple minded by the priests (to stay on topic). If you strongly believe a thing, then there just needs to be one who's telling what your ears wants to hear and you believe him everything. Like my aunt.. the priest said "COVID is sent by god to sort the bad from the good ones. If you pray loud enough and show god you're worthy, then COVID won't harm you." ... WHAAAT??? She prays. And there is no discussion possible, because than I need to argue against the priest - I do and as effect, I piss her off. Difficult case :) But I'm with you. Journalism should be completely neutral. Connotation and underlying negative tone shouldn't be part of reporting. I read a news in german language once. It was clear. Shortsentenced. Just facts. Ok! Then, I learned from my russian community, there is a translation of the very same news. Being able to speak that language, I read it. It was completely different meaning. There have been some personal conclusions like "the migration of foreigners will change our life" hidden in-between. All the russian guys started to discuss that in terms "we need to exit Europe. We want the German Mark back. Europe will kill us"... Wait, whaaat? There has never been similar said in the original report. That's how we all get manipulated. And that's how the money is made xd
- sigmaprimus 5y agoFair enough, it sounds like you care about this girl and that is good. IMHO the best thing you can do is give her space but make it clear you are there for her if and when she needs a friend. >>>I read a news in german language once. It was clear. Shortsentenced. I also agree, the German language is a beautiful thing, they have such interesting words that speaking a single one can convey an entire thought. eg: Schadenfreude or Backpfeifengesicht
- theGeatZhopa 5y agothese are called "suitcase words" and this is special to only (?) German language.. this is also a valid German word and actually have been used in the legislative area: Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz beef meat labeling monitoring tasks transfer law = the law for the transfer of monitoring tasks (to a other entity)for monitoring the correct labeling of beef meat) or: Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-Hyperaktivitätsstörung (attention deficit - hyperactivity disorder) stupid! :)
