People falling into conspiracies for different reasons. Let it be, conspiracies explains some situation easily (and it's looks true) for the ones with simple mindsets, or, they fit as an explanation for situations one doesn't have a full knowledge of.. like how the rules and laws are made in a society. Or, conspiracies are also a try to find reasonable arguments why the life of one is so much different in terms of well-living compared to some others.. "there is always someone who doesn't want you to rise and be free and stop you from doing it" :)
Difficult to analyse, as each of us have own brain and life.
I don't want to discuss this or to ram someone from the side because of one's believes.
I noticed quite a lot of people tend to believe in conspiracies, because they gain social credits by the other believers and are given a (falsely) feeling belonging to "caring community" - which is true for the ordinary participants among each other's, but not for the ones "driving" the conspiracy. They have some agenda by their own.
I know of a graduated electro-physics student (German diploma of engineering), who studied the mathematics, physics and all the logic.. her diploma thesis was about the thermal properties of silicone in the lithography process.. she did learn how to program an fpga, did etch "own" processors into silicone.. doing all the stuff a hardware coder needs to know.. and.. that girl believes then in the vaccines against COVID are some nanobots and nanochips to control us and so.. wait whaaat?
Yes. She actually knows the limits in chips production. She actually knows the need for an antenna for the nanobots being able to send or receive signals. She actually knows that for certain wavelength one needs a certain length of antenna and that it can't be build that small not to see it with ones bare eye..
it is just impossible with the actual technology. But she still does believe in that. And she also engaged with the whole scene.. doing organization of demonstrations and actively participate in acquiring new people into the scene..
Why? GOD KNOWS WHY. I think it's what other people give her back.. feeling to be important. Feeling to be "loved". Feeling to be part of them and part of something bigger... Having "true" friends who care. (her true friends who she know since 29 years are suddenly not friends anymore, but rather manipulated stupid humans)
So.. take care of you beloved ones. That should be enough.
Let them believe what they want, but make sure they know you will never let them fall for their believes. And slowly try to ask critical questions which the believer can't answer without thinking..
That's what may help.
With the girl above, everything is lost. She needs a baby to get off.. something she can care about.. wordle wouldn't help, as she would write a solver in HDL xD
- sigmaprimus 5y agoI think I get what you are trying to say, I always find it interesting when a comment has a larger word count than the article being commented on.
- theGeatZhopa 5y agoIt's now difficult to remove that as you already pointed to that :) It's not meant like she needs one to be put in her.. it's just a statement that she needs something bigger then taking care of some actions for her believes. She needs a true care-giving and having a child is the only thing on earth which is true. All and the only aim of life. It's not meant offensive or belowerering that girl. She is also a friend of my.
- petee 5y agoYou can still offend a friend. Either way, you sitting here deciding what she needs is probably offensive to her; and you are still suggesting the only thing in life for her is baby, yet that is only your opinion
- theGeatZhopa 5y agoYes. I understand what you mean. My point is that some are engaging because they get a feeling being important - in my comment, I pointed out that there is no sense to believe in chips and robots in vaccines, especially if you have studied that for 8 years (16 semester. Yes. You're a German engineer!) and you know the limits of technology. So, why the heck would some one believe that??? It's like a car maker suddenly believe, it's not gasoline you get on the gas stations put in your car, but pure alkohol - why would some one start to believe a thing against all the better knowledge? So I derived from that, that the things she makes now gives her something that she don't get without.. and she likes what she gets. The only thing that can distract her and pull her back to earth is having a child and focusing on the caretaking. There is nothing wrong with that. And it's not my opinion, but a statement that nothing else will help. It points out the impact of engagement in conspiracies and (in her case) it's so big, that only having a child (the biggest distraction on earth) could change that. Nothing else will help except that. So. What she needs or not, isn't the point of discussion and actually, she's desperate to having a child.. No one wants lol
