Dead Cells is one of my favorite games but I would agree it's too grindy. In my opinion the game can be even more addicting by speeding up the rate at which the player unlocks new weapons. I started enjoying the game a lot more after installing a mod that makes things drop more cells. Edit: I forgot to mention that I don't think it's a dark pattern, just a relatively poorly balanced mechanic.
