Yes, exactly, for example if you use 1680x1050 on a MBP 1920x1200 screen, the text takes on a really nice look, similar to using a soft pencil. I was totally stoked to find the HP can simulate that really nicely by turning the sharpness adjustment down, without needing to back down the displayed resolution. Definitely interesting to wonder exactly how you defocus an LCD though.
