The culture of the HN comment section has pretty much always been deeply contrarian. "Why are you building something so complicated when you can do X which is so much simpler?" Obligatory reference to the infamous Dropbox comment: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9224 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9224 The day HN stops helping me see the opposing viewpoint will be a sad day indeed. With that said, there is clear distinction between opposition and opprobrium, and yes, sometimes there's the latter here... but I don't feel it as much.
