- VHRanger 5y agoIt's changing the world of scams and Ponzi schemes Apart from that were yet to see something people use because they like to use it
- knownjorbist 5y ago> Apart from that were yet to see something people use because they like to use it An absolute claim that is easily disproven by doing even a modicum of research into the space.
- kspacewalk2 5y agoCan you do that modicum of research for me and provide a few examples?
- knownjorbist 5y agoSure, here's a thread of people who enjoy participating in the space: https://twitter.com/willyuwaychang/status/1489033938836213763 https://twitter.com/willyuwaychang/status/148903393883621376... Here's another fun project: https://www.poapathon.com/ https://www.poapathon.com/
- kspacewalk2 5y agoThe word 'use' is quite ambiguous. I didn't take it to mean 'use' as in 'play around for funzies', I meant more akin to useful products that make a tangible difference in my life (or any life).
- pcthrowaway 5y agoAh, gaming consoles must not be things people use then either.
- AnIdiotOnTheNet 5y agoGame consoles do exactly what they claim: they provide interactive amusements. Web3 is making a lot of claims, but the example given of its utility was only that of an interactive amusement.
- kspacewalk2 5y agoWhat makes you say that?
- cuddlecake 5y agoThey don't enjoy participating in the space, they enjoy avatars and art. And probably spending an absurd amount of money for more or less Auto-Generated art?
- Coding_Cat 5y agothat's just a thread of paid picrews. What is the value-add that Web3 offers here? That your avatar comes with a digital slip of paper you can use for speculation? In terms of ownership, so far, I haven't seen any NFT space that actually adds any value over picrews let alone comissioned artwork. There's no legal framework binding the blockchain ledger entry to the copyright of the images and even if it existed, what's the value add over traditional proof-of-purchases?
- knownjorbist 5y agoTake a look at their community, it's quite interesting. Tokenization opens a lot of doors that traditional models otherwise don't.
- Coding_Cat 5y agoI took a brief look at it and saw nothing to suggest that 'web3' added anything of real value. If you believe there is, then I'd love to hear what it adds that's 1. unique and 2. actually desirable.
- ryan_lane 5y agoYou've linked to two traditional web sites. The first one is people sharing auto-generated art of themselves (which you can generate for free through numerous apps and websites), and the second is shilling NFTs.
- tomc1985 5y agoI'm sorry but seeing those price tags next to all that wonderfully weird art totally kills it Information wants to be free! So stop trying to charge for it!
