Understood, but the hope is that if enough people complain, the practices may change for the better. Over time, the tweet-thread stories appear more frequently.
If that and other reader-hostile posts continue to become more common, we'll be left with NYT, Medium, WP, and Twitter as our only links. HN will go the way of Slashdot and Digg...
- dang 5y agoThat hope is based on a misunderstanding. There's no human consciousness deciding on such 'practices' - it's just a stochastic cloud, as are the complaints. Stochastic clouds don't listen to stochastic clouds. Even if that weren't true, it would still be a bad trade for HN to put anything other than discussion quality at the top of the priority list. That would be a much faster track to the deterioration of the site.
