Agreed, and they also could have named this concept after something cooler than the metaverse from Ready Player One. It was a pretty bad book and movie IMO. They should have chosen the "Holodeck" and renamed themselves "Holo".
- IHLayman 5y agoDidn’t Ready Player One call their VR world the OASIS? I thought the term metaverse came from Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, which was actually a pretty good book (even if the ending was a bit off the rails)…
- uejfiweun 5y agoAh, you know what? You're right. And Snow Crash is indeed one of my favorite books. Guess this is a sign that it's probably about time to reread it.
