There's bad, poor, ok, good, and great CGI just like every other aspect. There's probably far more CGI in movies than the poster thinks. There is weightiness in plenty of CGI. Thanos was one of the best villains and he was basically all CGI. Tons of weight and feeling in almost all of the MCU movies. There was a lot of cheezy, bad puppets in old movies - I was there and it's usually pretty painful to rewatch them. I used to love watching the Star Wars trilogy every year, but hadn't done so for about 7 years. I watched it this year with my son and ... it's a bit rough at times. Some parts are brilliant, others don't hold the shine they used to.
There was a period up to, maybe 5 years ago or so, where CGI was generally pretty awful, as it was just actors pretending in front of nothing but green screens, and the CGI was crazily complex and perfect. That was my least favorite era.
But filmmakers have learned to do clever things with CGI.
If you haven't watch the series by Corridor Crew about Good and Bad CGI, I highly recommend it:

There's lots of great descriptions of what makes good CGI good and bad CGI bad.
