I've arrived in an interesting place I didn't expect. Mostly, I don't care!! First and foremost, is the story good, compelling? If so, I'm in! I see some of the effects, there are others I know I don't see, and good on those crews. Did their job. :D I like to see them, when I see them too. Used to be, looking back, poor effects would stand right out, and it took me out of the experience. But, there was one exception, and that was the original "Star Trek" shows. For some reason, I didn't care on those and all these years later, I think I know why, and it's the story, the people, all of it being compelling. Also, on that program the music is just awesome! I still use episodes as background when working. The sounds are just great! Now, I super appreciate real, filmed things. The lack of effects is the special deal now. Cool!! Finally, makeup: I love good costumes, makeup, all that tech theatre stuff. The only time it's objectionable is when I do see it, and am not really supposed to, and usually that comes down to some environmental thing, the actor struggling (like sweat or something crappy for them and the makeup), or what seems like excess, like caked on. Otherwise! Yeah. Decorate the people. Let's check 'em out.
