- sleepybrett 5y agoMy understanding there are some 'matte paintings' (cgi or paints) in the distance (to get that awesome horizon), there is some crazy color grading happening, (flattening the colorspace considerably i'm sure), and there are some cgi overlays happening (whenever you see spice in the air or any kind of duststorm). So yes those shots, even though they were shot in actual desert are doctored heavily and perhaps can be considered cgi on the whole. That said the whole article reads as 'old art better than new art' 'old man yells at cloud'.
