- googlryas 5y agoThank goodness - I was getting really bored of effortlessly using my mail client, and it has been far too long since some designers got promoted at Google.
- pinot 5y agoHopefully they can then get to work on the iPad app.
- djanogo 5y agoThey should force all designers to only use 15/16 screen sizes, maybe then they will add options to allow UI fragments to be collapsible or hidden.
- justsomehnguy 5y agoThey can use the screens of any size but only with 1366x768 resolution. That would be better. Just took a look at Levono.com, played with filters... in the year 2022 you still can buy a model with such screen: Part Number 20X1CTO1WWUS1 Processor : 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i3-1115G4 Processor (3.00 GHz, up to 4.10 GHz with Turbo Boost, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 6 MB Cache) Operating System : Windows 11 Home Lenovo recommends Windows 11 Pro for business. Graphics : Integrated Intel® UHD Graphics Memory : 4 GB DDR4 3200MHz Storage : 128 GB PCIe SSD Display : 14.0" HD (1366 x 768) anti-glare, 220 nits I can bet $15 most (as in 99.99%) of the UX/UI designers at Google have at least FHD screens, many of them with 4K screens.
- djanogo 5y agoI never seen a designer, even in a small company, with out multiple high-end monitors. Even if they start without expensive setup they will see their peers in office and will match their setup pretty soon.
- MisterSandman 5y agoPlease, for the love of God, allow us to collapse the columns. I work on a 12" screen.
- marto1 5y agodropped gmail's gui for thunderbird 2 redesigns ago. Touching a productivity tool's (that works!) GUI is almost always a very bad idea.
- llimos 5y agoThe only browser extension I pay for is Simplify Gmail[1]. Worth every penny. I hope it works with the new design. [1] https://simpl.fyi/ https://simpl.fyi/
