While it is true just some chinese EV manufactures use LIDAR right now (Nio, Xpeng), Volvo[1] and Mercedes[2] are on board. I believe once the sensors become cheap enough, people will just use that rather than bet on cameras.

- _ph_ 5y agoThat is true, but currently most manufacturers use a system like the initial Autopilot, the Mobileye solution with radar and some camera information. LIDAR should be quite for collision avoidance in conditions where it can be used. This should improve car safety quite a bit.
