Not even closely. You couldn't make the Matrix without CGI and the CGI in something like Foundation looks so absolutely gorgeous that I wouldn't mind if I could just fly around in the world and gape at it. No matter how much I love TOS almost all the aliens were just a guy in a fursuit and all the rocks are shiny... Now of course you can make terrible movies and try to cover it up with CGI, but back in the day they just made terrible movies and tried to cover it up with boobs, guns and explosions. Not really that I mind either.
