Do you own a Tesla? Did you personally get scammed by them?
If not, it's deeply unhealthy for you to be enraged by something that doesn't even directly involve you.
- skinnymuch 5y agoI remember there being a montage of clips of Fox News and guests saying why are male Dems pretending to care about some female issue when they don’t even have daughters and are men.
- smt88 5y agoI would like to think you're arguing in my favor, but it's unclear. If you are, I will just add to it by saying that it's normal and human for people in a society to care about other people and also about the health of the society. Elon Musk is setting a terrifying precedent as the (usually) richest man in the world who is also a childish troll, self-dealer, and proud flouter of safety regulations.
- skinnymuch 5y agoYes I am in your favor. The joke for the montage I brought up was -- of course you can care about something you aren't personally invested in. Punch line being "if you have prostate cancer, the doctor won't say yeah but I don't so what do I care"
- FDSGSG 5y agoThat's completely different. "Enraged" is a strong word, you'd expect someone who is "enraged" to be extremely angry, turning red and almost throwing things around. It's not normal for a third party to get so upset over other peoples cars. Angry? Sure. Vexed? Why not. Annoyed? Absolutely. Enraged? Probably not. Incandescent? Nah.
- smt88 5y agoSo all the people who refuse to join Facebook and are angry at Zuckerberg have no right to be angry? I can't just be angry that someone is a powerful liar who ignores the rule of law and puts dangerous cars on the road with me and my loved ones? It makes people in a democracy angry when someone who is unelected (and was born with a silver spoon in their mouth) becomes more powerful than the democracy. I wish I didn't have to care about Musk, but the various regulators who are supposed to stop him from pump-and-dump scams on Twitter and from releasing unsafe, shoddily-built cars are very slow to do anything to him. > it's deeply unhealthy Please spare the armchair analysis. It weakens your argument and is off-topic for HN. If you can't make your point without calling me mentally ill, you don't have a good point.
- FDSGSG 5y ago>Please spare the armchair analysis. It weakens your argument and is off-topic for HN. If you can't make your point without calling me mentally ill, you don't have a good point. No, seriously. Healthy people are not "enraged" by things like these. I'm not trying to attack you, this isn't a criticism. If you're enraged by some Tesla bullshit, what about all of the other significantly worse things in this world? It can't be nice to live like that, being constantly enraged and all.
- smt88 5y agoPlease take your fake concern elsewhere. I'm an internet stranger. You don't and shouldn't care about my well-being. Like I said, your personal attacks (that you are disguising as concern) show how weak your point is and are off-topic. There are worse things in the world, but salience isn't directly proportional to harm for anyone, including me. Otherwise, we'd all likely be paralyzed with rage over human rights in Syria or China. Also, people can be angry at more than one thing, and it's not a permanent or constant state. But everyone has their pet issues that really bother them, and there are worse issues than Musk (who symbolizes US oligarchy) to care about.
- skinnymuch 5y agoI did not notice this thread continue. FDSGSG's strategy is bemusing. It doesn't help that them being so concerned about you being so concerned by their logic, is equally troubling and worrisome!
- HWR_14 5y agoI have friends who have Teslas with FSD who want their money back. But I don't need personal involvement to be upset at people being cheated.
- FDSGSG 5y ago"Upset" and "enraged" mean very different things.
- jjav 5y ago> If not, it's deeply unhealthy for you to be enraged by something that doesn't even directly involve you. Teslas drive on public streets, unfortunately. So everyone who doesn't own a Tesla is still part of Elon's irresponsible experiements. Thus, have a right to an opinion or even outrage. I don't own a Tesla but I've been brake checked by their phantom braking so I care.
