Once-a-week Cannabis users face SIX-FOLD increased risk of schizophrenia

- eimrine 5y agoAs I am not a decent English speaker, please help me to determine if I figured up correctly or wrong: If you a teen and smoke cannabis every day = not cool If you a teen and smoke cannabis once a week = not determined If you an adult and smoke cannabis every day = not determined If you an adult and smoke cannabis once a week = cool

- mythrwy 5y agoDidn't read the article. Is it .0001% to .0006% or something? Cannabis may or may not trigger schizophrenia, lets assume it does. But schizophrenia is very rare, Cannabis use is not so the chance is obviously very low and perhaps it's just speeding up the inevitable rather then creating new actual cases of schizophrenia. Also, lets assume Cannabis use can trigger (rather then cause) latent schizophrenia. Why would frequency of use matter? It's a binary thing, either you ingested the causative agent or you didn't. One use maybe is enough. Overall this article appears designed to frighten casual Cannabis users but maybe those are already "proved safe" from this particular tragedy.
- MisterSandman 5y agoYour send to last paragraph doesn't make sense, there are many things that you can ingest that can only trigger disease or illness at a certain amount. Frequency of ingesting something does impact the likelihood of getting negative effects from it, even if it's just atrigger to an illness that already exists in you. This article is pretty BS, though, I agree.

- sexy_panda 5y agoI hate these types of articles. They don't rely an a good scientific base and are essentially FUD. Who knows what these patients were smoking with all the synthetics recently coming up due to missing legalisation.
