Using melatonin for sleep is on the rise despite health harms
- neverminder 5y ago> some of them may be using it at dangerously high levels In case of Melatonin, less is more. There are massive pills of 10 mg and even more I think, but apparently even 300 mcg is enough. I have 750 mcg 6 hour timed release version and it works fine.
- quantified 5y agoWARNING misleading title. The article itself tries to whip up “harm” but is careful not to stray too far from “potential harm” i.e. the effects are unknown. [https://www.nccih.nih.gov/health/melatonin-what-you-need-to-know https://www.nccih.nih.gov/health/melatonin-what-you-need-to-...] lists mild effects from high dose, and [https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2788539?guestAccessKey=c85385a8-83d2-4319-b33b-21acf8daad72&utm_source=For_The_Media&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=ftm_links&utm_content=tfl&utm_term=020122 https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2788539?gu...] appears to discuss the statistics of usage not of effects of usage. Not that high-dose or long-term are good or bad for you, just that the linked actual articles by scientists say “we don’t know” not “harmful”. CNN and OP headline clickbait.
