The Moral Calculations of a Billionaire
- ggm 5y agoMostly, the article speaks for itself. I thought it ironic he does a minimum Florida residency for tax purposes, given he winds up donation dripfeeding his wealth, it suggests the back story on his moral dilemma is that he wants to pick and choose. For me the whole point of tax is both equalisation and avoiding the pick and choose part, but given he wants to, the rest is rational choices I am pretty partisan. I don't see signs Musk or Bezos understand how to self police the freedoms of money. I would personally love to be wealthier but at a cost of being so exploitative of workers? Come on. It ought to be clear by now that both Musk and Bezos are not anti union because it would actually seriously erode their disposable income. It's a proxy for the philosophical dilemma here: they want to choose what to do with their money, that other people earn for them. Extra super duper rich are not a healthy sign of balance. It's distortion for individuals to be so far outside the curve. A curve can exist. Were not ants, clones. But a curve with this asymmetry worries me. The accumulation is not going to help. I'm not seeking his wealth personally and I am adequately rewarded for my work, I'm in a top 3% bracket, within which these people are the top 0.00001%
