It's still a "fix".
- natch 5y agoTeslas have fixes all the time, unlike other cars which just stay broken. Try putting any car on cruise control on a street with stop signs and see what happens. It will be way worse than what any Tesla does. “But those cars don’t claim self driving.” Neither does Tesla. The capability is still under development.
- LightG 5y agoSure, but you're talking to someone who doesn't believe in "true" FSD inside the next 10 years. I suspect Tesla will be forced to stick with an ever improving FSD-lite that still needs to be monitored. Which (in my own use case) is actually less than pointless ... you lose the joy of actual driving, to become a supervisor of your car. There is still value in lane assist on motorways and cruise control, but we have that anyway. The difference is all other car manufacturers haven't been selling FSD and robotaxis as "right around the corner" for the last few years. I understand the development problems and overambitious deadlines ... but if you took away the ebullient narrative and put just the facts on paper, I wouldn't be able to distinguish what's gone one from fraud.
- natch 5y agoAll good points, but this will get done one step at a time. Or “fix” in your parlance. Meantime, dramatic headlines will be dramatic.
